Tillinghast wrote a column on golf under the by line, "Hazard," which first appeared in The American Golfer in November 1908. The column covered the local tournaments in the greater Philadelphia under the heading "Around Philadelphia," "Middle Atlantic Notes," and Eastern Pennsylvania Notes."  Tilly's column reflects societal class status in the early nineteen hundreds and the life and times in American country clubs.
