The Course at Roland ParkSubmitted by bobtrebus on Sun, 2007-02-25 14:51.
The decision to move to new golfing grounds was due in part to technology.
The Roland Park course, which had hosted the 1899 U.S. Open had been rendered obsolete for competive play by the farther flying golf balls and the better manufactured golf clubs. The course had other flaws -- the rugged terrain made for ardous play over the hills and dales.
