Big Four Amateurs of the East -- Oswald Kirkby, Jesse Guilford, Francis Ouimet & Jerome Travers The seventy-two four ball match pitting Travers and Kirkby against Ouimet and Guilford. The first thirty six holes were played over Brae Burn and the second thirty-six at Baltusrol. Ouimet and Guilford were one up after 36 holes on familiar ground at Brae Burn and at Baltusrol Ouimet went out with one of his streaks and posted a 32 out on the second 18 paving the way for the crushing defeat. Guilford delivered the final blows with a 34 in. The resulting victory by 7 up with 5 to play.
