Tillinghast wrote for a short time for Country Club Life in summer of 1914. This was an illustrated weekly devoted to Golf, Tennis, Motoring, Society and Finance. The publisher was Club Life Publishing located at 1011 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia.

Several of the short stories which appeared in Country Club Life would later be republished in Cobble Valley Yarns and Other Sketches, which was published in 1915.
